Dell Inspiron 17R

2 July 2013

Inspiron 17R is one of the limited 17 inch laptops in the market. Not many 17” laptops are being released by the manufacturers these days. The craze for the small screen and the tablet is basically replacing the desktops. Though tablets and notebooks with small screens can’t be used to carry out tasks which require higher resolution, the need for the 17 inch laptop remains in the consumer market.

Dell Inspiron 17R starts at the price of  $599 and customized configuration costs  $699 onwards.  The main feature of the laptop is the glossy 17 inch screen that gets your work done on higher resolution. The tilted view and the view under sunlight isn’t bad, which means you can use the laptop comfortably outdoors.

It has a powerful 2.5GHz Intel Core i5-3210M processor with 6GB, 1,600MHz DDR3 and Intel HD4000 graphics card. The operating system installed on Inspiron 17R is  Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit), which you can upgrade to Windows 8 or any other OS of your choice. It comes with the extended partition for the recovery and you don’t get any media like recovery DVD. The system has DVD R/W which can take care of your movie viewing and burning needs.

The keyboard for the Inspiron is chiclet style board with touchpad shifted to the left side. They keys are spaced in comfortable position so that people with big fingers and thumbs can easily use the keyboard. These new styles of the keyboards  are replacing the old keys which used to be hard to use for some people and are much better. The laptop has 4 USB 3.0, SD card reader, Ethernet, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth ports on the system.

The battery performance of the laptop is average like most of the laptops in the market. If you are looking for bigger screen for your work then Inspiron 17R is a very good option and the price is also not bad considering the feature set.
